Please help - I don't understand this: because the iPad may only contain content from five Apple IDs.

I am giving my son my iPad.

I am trying to download his Apps on to it and I am getting the message: Some of the iTunes Store files in the iTunes library were not copied to the iPad because the iPad may only contain content from five Apple IDs.

As far as I know there are only 2 Apple IDs involved - my own and the one we made for him as a minor.

Has anyone else had this problem and can you help me to overcome it.

Typical that this situation comes up the day before his birthday - I wanted to give it to him tomorrow all loaded with his own stuff. It accepted five of his apps last month when I first came up with the idea and yet now...

Anyone?

It means what it means: iTunes Store items are labelled with the Apple ID that was used to purchase them. Apparently in this case, for whatever reason, more than 5 ID's are involved. That could include accounts that aren't used anymore.

Thanks for trying to help - you're very kind.

The issue really is this bit. You say:

Apparently in this case, for whatever reason, more than 5 ID's are involved.

... but since we have only every used 2 Apple IDs, this is not the case. It is the 'whatever reason' I am trying to find out.

I think it may be a bug?

I have overcome the issue by downloading each App separately from the device itself, rather than plugging in to the main computer and trying to do it there, which is what I am used to doing. It seems to be allowing me to do it this way. So I haven't found my 'whatever reason' and I haven't really solved that problem but have at least found a way around it.

Thanks so much for your swift response!

Thanks a lot for your interest and help.

Yes. If anyone else is also looking for ways around this, downloading with wifi directly on to the device from the 'purchased' region of itunes, one App at a time; it worked. I am all ready to give him his birthday present tomorrow and have stopped panicking!

Thanks all.

(still think it's a bug tho' - just saying) 🙂

Been having this problem for 1.5 years already. Same situation. 2 accounts, mine, where all purchases have been made and my wife's one. I'm using family sharing so she can download all the apps I purchased on her phone from app store purchased list, but same apps cannot be synced using iTunes. How weird it is. And I tried to restore her phone once, and everything worked for the first sync only. I used to have mobile internet package with 8gb/month only, it was a big trouble for me because I had to download same apps twice. Now I have unlimited internet and I don't really pay attention to it, but that 'bug' is still there and I've only used one account to make all purchases.
